Our preparation courses are a popular option for students who want to take an internationally recognised examination, whether to support their academic goals or simply to expand their knowledge of English without actually taking the examination. There is a variety of examination preparation courses on offer as detailed below.

CE15A – Cambridge General English
CE20A – Cambridge General English
Exam: First Certificate in English (FCE)
15 lessons per week or 20 lessons per week
Levels: Upper-Intermediate
The Cambridge First Certificate Examination is a very popular exam and is increasing in recognition amongst employers and some universities in English speaking countries. This course will prepare you for the exam. You will have lots of practice with exam skills, and have the opportunity to increase your language ability as well. You should have B2 level of CEFR in English before joining the course. The School's FCE Preparation Course is designed to introduce test-taking strategies, as well as providing a thorough review of all skills necessary for those students taking the exam. The course is suitable for students who simply want to improve their English at this level and those who want to sit the examination itself.

Exam: Certificate in Advanced English (CAE)
15 lessons per week or 20 lessons per week
Levels: Advanced
The Cambridge Advanced English Examination is the second highest level English language exam that Cambridge offers. It is recognised by some universities, many employers and the UK Border Agency. This course will prepare you for the exam. You will have lots of practice with exam skills, and have the opportunity to increase your language ability as well. You should have C1 level of CEFR in English before joining the course. Classes feature rigorous classroom exercises plus frequent review of questions in simulated test conditions

Exam: Certificate of Proficiency in English(CPE)
15 lessons per week or 20 lessons per week
Levels: Proficiency
The Cambridge Proficiency Examination is Cambridge’s highest level exam. It is widely recognised by universities and employers as well as the UK Border Agency. This course will prepare you for the exam. You will practice exam skills and general English skills. You should have C2 level on the CEFR in English before joining the course. This Burlington course concentrates on the specific requirements for this test, and includes intensive class exercises in all necessary skills.
IE15 – IELTS Examination

The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) exam is an extremely popular exam and is required by most universities in English speaking countries. We offer courses to prepare you for the IELTS exam at two different levels:
IELTS Intermediate:
This is an introduction to the IELTS exam. You will have a lot of exam practice, and a chance to improve your listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. To join this course you need to be at Upper-Intermediate level or above (B2 level of CEFR in English).
IELTS Advanced:
This is an extension of the IELTS Intermediate course and is designed for those who have Advanced level English or above (C1 level of CEFR in English). It is a more in-depth look at the necessary skills for the exam than the introductory IELTS course.
TO5 – TOEFL and TC5 – TOEIC Examinations
5 lessons per week
Level: Upper-Intermediate and above
TOEFL:
The Test Of English as a Foreign Language evaluates the ability of an individual to understand English in an academic setting. It is an American exam, and is seen as an American equivalent of the IELTS examination. It is widely recognised by universities and is valid for two years from the date of the exam. This course will prepare you for the exam. You will practice exam skills and have the opportunity to improve your general English, too. You should have a B2 level on the CEFR in English before joining this course.
TOEIC:
The Test Of English for International Communication measures the ability of an individual to use English in everyday workplace activities. It is widely recognised by employers in English speaking countries or companies. During this course you will practice exam skills and general English.
